Holistic Community Development   

Sankofa's Community Development Initiative integrates holistic community development practices into the planning, implementing, and managing of affordable housing. We leverage our role as experienced real estate developers and managers to build strategic alliances with partners to improve neighborhood institutions and communities. While focusing on the social factors of health and wellbeing that affect our residents' quality of life, health, and success. 

For example: On-site child care centers servicing a variety of families members. Community services and facilities servicing senior programs, parks, open spaces, and libraries. Neighborhood-serving retail in our mixed-use developments. We are aware that housing unto itself is not the end-all solution.

Our initiative integrates the facets of our work far beyond housing so that more people and more neighborhoods have opportunities to thrive. SWC provides financial education, housing counseling aid, and provides access to quality affordable housing.  The tactical and strategic objective of SWC is to deliver and build advocacy for financial stability through the development of affordable housing, the facilitation of homeownership, and the economic empowerment and revitalization of neighborhoods in disadvantaged areas overlooked and neglected.     

-CONTROL YOUR FINANCIAL WELLNESS  Sankofa Housing Center will provide renters, interested home buyers, and existing homeowners with the skill and resources they need to obtain, stabilize and maintain affordable housing, whether it’s a rental or home purchase. We will skill our clients to improve their financial wellness and net-worth by managing and increasing their assets and lowering their debt.   

We believe It’s Not What You Earn That Matters; It’s What You Preserve. Wealth and Worth are not synonymous. While wealth is measured; in dollars, cents, and possessions, we believe Worth is a measure of something much more: values, ideals, even ethics.    

-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SWC uses an organic ground up approach to achieving community revitalization. We are currently focusing on efforts in various areas of California, in particular Los Angeles County.
