Community Wellness Initiatives at Sankofa Wellness Center

“If you want to go fast go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”  This African proverb resonates deeply with the mission of the Sankofa Wellness Center (SWC), a nonprofit benefit corporation based in Los Angeles, California. SWC's specific purpose is to assist disadvantaged communities of people of African descent in addressing critical issues that impact their daily lives, including health education, affordable housing, education, training, and environmental justice.  

You can help raise awareness and tackle these pressing issues by donating, volunteering, discussing with friends and family, and staying engaged. Your support is crucial to our efforts.  

**Health:** Help us raise funding by connecting with various hospitals, including Cedars Sinai Medical Center, that align with the SWC model.  

**Healthy Foods:** Contribute to raising funds aimed at providing aid to disadvantaged communities through initiatives like inner city gardens that promote a healthy diet. We encourage outreach to Whole Foods and similar organizations to support a whole foods diet.  

**Affordable Housing:** We seek to acquire land grants and city and state vacated land to meet the pressing need for affordable housing throughout California.  

**Educational:** Raise funds to support broad-based internet coverage in inner-city communities. We aim to develop affordable apps that teach critical thinking skills and foreign languages, including Kiswahili, alongside lessons focused on sustaining a healthy Mind, Body, and Spirit.  

**Environmental:** The Radical Green New Deal is our only viable solution to the looming environmental disaster. We aim to fund and collaborate with experienced scientists to tackle these issues directly, ensuring that reform is genuine and not just a guise for change.
